The Langham is my absolute favorite hotel in Chicago. I previously wrote about my delicious lunch at its restaurant, Travelle, and I frequent the lovely bar for happy hour, as well. So, when my girlfriends and I wanted to plan an afternoon tea, the location was a no-brainer.
The Langham offers an Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood daily. Seating is in The Langham’s beautiful Pavillion room, just adjacent to the main lobby. The setting is sophisticated, yet still relaxed, and one cannot help but feel like a lady. The Pavillion’s decor is just what I would love in my own living room, should I stumble upon The Langham’s budget.
Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood includes proprietary Langham teas, as well as an array of sweet and savory bites. Live music plays in the background just loud enough to hear, but not too loud that it drowns out conversation. Afternoon Tea at The Langham is the perfect combination of pampering and relaxation. And, afternoon tea is not just for the ladies; the number of men enjoying tea during our time there was almost as great as the number of women. If you want to impress your lady, take her to tea at The Langham.
At first glance, the tea menu appeared overwhelming, with so many options from which to choose. Our server, however, did an excellent job of guiding us through the menu so that we each chose our perfect tea.
Our tea was then followed by a round of tasty finger sandwiches. Our server suggested the order in which to eat them, starting with the lightest flavors first. On our visit, our bites included mushrooms, custard, goat cheese, and roasted peppers. They were all quite tasty.
I was most looking forward to the scones, however, and The Langham’s did not disappoint. A traditional scone was served, along with a cranberry scone with orange zest, and both were delicious. The clotted cream and fresh berry preserves served alongside added to the goodness of each bite. These scones made me want to enjoy afternoon tea on a daily basis.
Our Afternoon Tea then finished with a plate of sweets, including macarons and chocolate-dipped almond shortbread cookies.
Even though we were full after enjoying the sandwiches and scones, the cookies were a perfect end to a fancy, yet relaxed, afternoon tea.
Our Afternoon Tea with Wedgwood at The Langham Chicago was simply wonderful. The service was on point, the teas were tasty, and the food was delicious. Taken together with the lovely ambiance afforded by The Langham, it was the perfect afternoon spent with my girlfriends. The Langham serves tea daily, at three different seatings, and is a perfect mid-afternoon treat.
