Brunch at Mesa Grill – Las Vegas

Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay’s only Las Vegas restaurant is Mesa Grill, located within Caesars Palace, where he has been delivering his iconic bold Southwestern flavors since 2004. A restaurant has to be doing something right in order to last that long in Vegas, and Mesa Grill clearly is.

The interiors have not changed much, if at all, since Mesa Grill first opened in 2004, but the restaurant is comfortable and offers views of Caesars’ casino floor, making for incredible Vegas people watching. Tables are nicely spaced to allow for relaxed conversation, and an open kitchen sits at the center of the room.

No trip to Mesa Grill is complete without a margarita, and on this visit, I tried the Partida Margarita, simply made with Partida Blanco Tequila, organic agave nectar, and fresh squeezed lime juice. It was not overly sweet, nor sour, and was very smooth  and tasty. This was one of the best margaritas that I have had in a while.

After reviewing the brunch menu, the tiger shrimp and roasted garlic corn tamale immediately caught my eye, and after tasting one bite, was extremely happy that it did. Served with corn and and amazing cilantro sauce, I am still thinking about this dish and when I can get back to Mesa Grill to order it again. The shrimp were plump, meaty, and perfectly cooked, the tamale was creamy and flavorful, and the cilantro sauce just brought it all together. It was fantastic.

I then tried the equally as delicious scrambled eggs chilaquiles. Fluffy eggs sat atop a crispy blue corn tortilla, and were topped with roasted tomatillo sauce, white cheddar cheese, and crème fraiche. This dish offered the perfect amount of spice and did not overwhelm the incredible flavors. This was another winner.

Overall, I absolutely loved my meal at Mesa Grill. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent. Mesa Grill serves brunch on the weekends, lunch Monday through Friday, and dinner daily. Next time you are in Las Vegas, I recommend a visit to Mesa Grill.
