Meez Meals – At Home Cooking Made Easy

Yesterday, I posted my interview with Meez Meals founder Jen Moore. During that interview, Jen discussed the philosophy of Meez Meals, and that it is a meal delivery service that does the prep work for you. Today, I am talking about my personal experience using Meez Meals.

Meez Meals makes it easy for the time-crunched to prepare homemade meals; perfect for someone like me who often does not have time during the week to do just that. Each week, five different entrees are offered, in addition to side salads and desserts that can be added to each meal. The menu is always rotating in order to keep things new and interesting. Most meals can be prepared and on the table in as little as 20 to 30 minutes, and step-by-step instructions are included with every recipe. Meals are offered in 1, 2, 4, and 6 person sizes, and everything that is delivered is packed to stay fresh for up to one week. Meals are delivered to your door via messengers in reusable cooler bags, and everything is packed to stay cold until you put it into your fridge.

All meals can be modified, and Meez Meals even offers helpful hints to reduce calories in each dish. Food allergies and dietary restrictions can be accommodated, and special requests can be made. All of the meals are vegetarian, but meat can easily be added at home if you prefer. The website is very informative and not only lists how much time each meals takes from start to finish, but also whether any additional equipment or ingredients would be needed apart from what is delivered.

After reviewing the menu offerings, including the difficulty of making each dish, and taking into account my husband’s preferences, I elected to order the Triple Mushroom Flatbread with Gorgonzola Sauce. Orders for the following week must be made by noon on the previous Friday. I placed my order and it was then delivered to me on a Monday evening, packaged nicely in a sturdy cooler with reusable ice packs. I put the package into my refrigerator and planned to make it the next night.

When it came time to make the flatbreads, I removed the ingredients from the bag and laid everything out, including the step-by-step, detailed instructions. The only ingredients that were needed apart from what was delivered were pantry staples like olive oil, flour, and butter.

I found the instructions to be easy to follow, and began by rolling out the pizza dough into two different flatbreads – one for me and one for my husband. Once ready, I then baked the dough in the oven.

As the dough was baking, I sauteed the onion mix in olive oil and added the mushrooms. Once cooked, I added the white wine that was included and cooked until ready.

I then took the dough out of the oven, sprinkled some mozzarella cheese over both, and topped the flatbreads with the cooked vegetables. I prefer more vegetables and less cheese on my pizza, while my husband likes more cheese, and I was able to customize both flatbreads to our individual liking. The flatbreads then went back into the oven to finish cooking.

During this time, I prepared the gorgonzola sauce by melting some butter, adding a little flour, followed by the cream mix, and then, finally, adding the gorgonzola cheese. I whisked the ingredients together until it thickened into a nice sauce.

When the flatbreads were fully cooked, I took them out of the oven and drizzled each with some of the gorgonzola sauce. They looked and smelled delicious!

My husband was weary of my cooking skills, so he had the pizza delivery company on standby. However, he absolutely loved the taste and quality of the flatbread. I equally enjoyed mine, especially with all of the fresh and seasonal mushrooms that topped the whole wheat dough. The gorgonzola sauce gave it a really nice flavor, and the dough had a great consistency.

I found my experience with Meez Meals to be effortless, with excellent results. From choosing my meal and placing my order, to receiving the meal components and cooking the meal, every step was easy, convenient, and fun. And, best of all, the food tasted great. I not only saved time by not having to plan the meal, shop for the ingredients, and do all of the prep work, but I also saved money by receiving only the exact amount of each ingredient that I would need for the meal.

My husband and I were both extremely pleased with Meez Meals, and we plan to incorporate this easy to use and convenient service into our weekly routine.
