UPDATE: Pearl Tavern Has Been Polished

I previously Chritiqued Pearl Tavern shortly after it opened in February, 2014. I have to admit that my experience was not a good one. However, I wanted to give it a second chance and, recently, returned for lunch. I have to say, that things have improved, including the service, the menu, and the food.

Pearl Tavern just came out with its new summer menu and it offers many tasty options. I had the grilled jumbo shrimp salad, served atop mixed greens, spicy pineapple, cashews, with a guava vinaigrette. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and flavorful, and I enjoyed the spiciness of the pineapple. It was a perfect lunchtime entree.

Other winners included the lobster roll, served Connecticut style in a buttered bun, with celeriac slaw and tarragon aioli.  Along with the yummy sweet potato fries, I will be returning for this crustacean creation.

The BBQ salmon burger, with Asian BBQ sauce and homemade kimchi, is also a winner. Served with a side salad, the salmon burger is flavorful and fulfilling.

Not only had the food improved, but the service, as well. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I was quite pleased with my second visit to Pearl Tavern, and I look forward to returning again soon.
